Structural Inspection Specialist
Job Description
A Structural Inspection Specialist is a crew member that is expected to conduct inspections and technical investigations on "tower" structures throughout the United States. Following appropriate training and certification during the initial on-boarding process, new-hires will work mostly outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year, often climbing up to and in excess of 500 feet, to take measurements and record information. All safety equipment and safety instruction will be provided. Transportation, meals, and/or appropriate per diem will be paid by the company.
Applicants should meet the following qualifications:
Adequate-or-above physical shape/condition for climbing with safety harness and light measurement equipment (tape measure, calipers, rangefinder, etcetera)
Able and willing to work safely and efficiently at heights
Able and willing to travel extensively for weeks at a time (every weekend spent working will be given back as consecutive time off at the end of a trip)
Valid driver's license; willing and able to drive company vehicle for extended periods if needed
Can read and use an architectural tape measure
Able to (or able to learn to) understand technical drawings, fractions and decimals, and the Imperial System of units
Able to (or able to learn to) create technical drawings/sketches of structural layouts
Decent communication skills - "good with words" - able to adequately verbally describe structural elements and layouts without being able to physically/visually display what you're portraying at the time
Average or above "general computer skills"
Responsible and level-headed; "works well with others"
Strong analytical skills; can understand and remember a set of technical criteria and evaluate structures in accordance with that knowledge
Exhibit willingness to take instruction well, learn from it, and retain and apply information gathered
Hardworking, Honest, Trustworthy - we're looking for employees that will learn to excel with us by always giving their best and owning their mistakes in exchange for fair treatment and opportunity
No experience is required - this is an entry level position (or above, depending on experience and ability) with a North Carolina based company founded by a NCSU Structural Engineering graduate with 20 years' experience in the industry. All that we ask is that you be patient, committed, hard-working, and diligent in your efforts. Good employees will be rewarded as the company grows and opportunities continue to become available. Anyone from a mature, responsible, trying-to-make-it-on-his-own recent high school or college grad to an honorably discharged military service member looking to develop new skills in the civilian world, or even your "average Joe" just looking to change careers, is encouraged to apply. With patience, mutual respect, and hard work, we'll reach new heights together as a team.
Proverbs 3: 4-6 (ESV): So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
